Our best tool is the Extended Neighborhood Patrol, which allows the University Terrace Crime Watch to hire the Dallas Police Department for dedicated, extra patrols exclusive to our neighborhood. During these patrol hours, Dallas Police Officers will safeguard the University Terrace neighborhood only, and will not take calls outside of our boundaries. Our officers will also respond instantly to 9-1-1 calls and home burglary alarms in University Terrace during these dedicated, extra patrol hours. The result has been an increase in police presence and a reduction in crime in University Terrace of over 65%.

Volunteers in Patrol Crime Watch

Got a car and a pair of eyes? We need you! Become a VIP (Volunteers in Patrol)!

VIP is a group of University Terrace Volunteers who patrol in their cars and report anything suspicious to 9-1-1 and 3-1-1. This is a non confrontational group and does not carry weapons. Members choose the time and days they can volunteer. Members must first complete a background check and VIP training through the Dallas Police Department in order to participate. A VIP group is the number one thing a neighborhood can do to help control crime.
